Who better to test toys than the ones who will be using them? And with this in mind, Dollhouse Dreams, 820 Ave. G, opened the doors Saturday and welcomed testers by the droves.
Brenda Derr, owner of Dollhouse Dreams, said she had to call in help, anticipating the crowd of kids that were, at the time, wall to wall. Derr said there was good reason for this.
“Today we are having a Toy Tester Program sponsored by Melissa & Doug as part of Melissa & Doug’s take Back Childhood Program,” Derr said.
Derr said the event was free and gave children a chance to experience the toys. The kids also had the opportunity to register for a free prize and each child took home a gift back when they left, as well as a free ice cream cone.
Derr said along with hands-on toys, the kids had a chance to do a scavenger hunt – another hit with the kids. The scavenger hunt was done by using the interior of a large doll house. Those who found all the items listed would have their names in a drawing for a prize.
And was it well-accepted?
“It’s packed wall to wall,” Derr said
